after weeks of no cash and a c5 with a buggerd control box i got fed up so tried to fix it. when i took it apart here seems to have been a small fire  :o so i cleaned it up to fine the comunication diode was not connected any more. so in a true alan style i botched it back together with a bit of wire and now it works like a dream the only thing is i dong think my load metre is true and more. i have read up a few things in that essay of a unnoficial service manual i think that the com diode failing has caused the increse in the arcing hence my small fire. i know i prob shouldnt be running it as is but have no choice until funds allow me to replace the control box big thanks to martin for all the phone help cheers guys  ;D
