Title: Website & Forum
Post by: Karl on 24, April, 2008 - 08:19:55
As you've probably noticed, we had a spot of bother with the "old" forum.

Although a repair was attempted, it became apparent that starting from new was the best option.

Over the next few days I will be re-posting the photo's from the various meetings and trying to recover some of the techy postings etc.

It wont be instant, but a gradual process - so please be patient !

Alongside this, you will notice the shop has been restored but in quite an old format. Again, this will be updated over the next few days to get everything up and running at the earliest opportunity.

The whole changeover of C5alive from Mark to myself has been entertaining to say the least, but never dull !

The event in Wales had its moments but was a success and shows that C5's and C5alive are going from strength to strength.   8)

Just a reminder for those that may not have noticed.

This forum is open to guests viewing. No-one can post unless they register, but anyone can see what we are chatting about.

You might want to consider this if posting a thread that contains personal details etc.

I've not posted any rules or regulations yet concerning forum use, I am not a big fan of too much "big brother". But I would ask that swearing is kept to the mild variety and no porn - there are other sites for all that  ;)

Constructive criticism is no bad thing, but personal attacks might well be deleted.

Other than that, the new forum seems to have really taken off - which is a good thing for the C5.   :)

I for one would like to take this opportunity in welcoming Karl and wish him all the best with C5alive in the future. I fully sympathise with the 'problems' Karl has had getting to this point, and the stigma that has come with them, but i am confident, these can be overcome.

This site has a lot of potential and its up to us to contribute and make it a better place.

I personally come from a heavily technical background and have a lot of experience with all things Sinclair, and would be happy to share this knowledge with anyone interested. My particular interests in the C5 is, increasing speed and acceleration, and extending battery life

The shop has now been weeded and re-vamped...pretty much complete apart from a final bit of tweaking here and there.

Paypal payment option is something new.

Stock on the shelf, unless otherwise stated.

It's taken a bit longer than expected, and required some considerable support from c5martin, but "C5alive" is now close to where I want it.

Everyone who owns ,or has an interest in, the Sinclair c5 is more than welcome to join the forum and post their comments. The aim of C5alive, and the forum, is to promote the Sinclair C5 - to keep it running and in use so that it doesn't just fade away into the history books.

Obviously ,since there is a website shop attached, we would rather rival suppliers weren't advertised  :P - if in doubt drop me or Martin a line to clear it with us first.

Above all else - lets get out there and enjoy our alternative 80's transport icon  ;D

Check the meetings section to see if a C5 run is appearing near you  - & feel free to drop by and say hello  8)

I'm having a bit of a tidy up  8)

First off , I've been weeding the c5alive customer database so advance apologies to anyone who has been deleted in error  ;)

Once that's complete, I'll probably take a look at the forum membership and remove those that have registered but never posted  - might see the numbers shrink but at least it will make things more manageable.

Again, apologies in advance to anyone deleted in error - if in doubt "use it or lose it"  :D :P
