Title: 18/9/2011 : Brooklands Vintage Cycle Event
Post by: Karl on 25, October, 2010 - 14:46:40: We've been invited back to the Brooklands Vintage Cycle event for 2011 on Sunday 18th September 8). This has always been my absolute favourite event of the c5alive calendar - more details nearer the time.

An excellent venue, Brooklands has always been very supportive of c5alive. A date worth circling in your diary :)

Some more good news, we will have some track time at Mercedes Benz World scheduled for around lunchtime but subject to confirmation.

To help gauge how much space we need , such as our usual "playpen" ,could you let me know asap if you wish to attend and whether you're bringing a c5 :)

It's looking like there'll be a smaller turn out of c5's than last year, which is a shame, but as long as we put on a good display I'm sure Brooklands will be happy.

If you do decide you want to come after the cut-off date it doesn't mean you won't be welcome, just that you'll have to pay at the gate on the day.

A few details and some info, especially for those attending for the first time. If you've been before you'll recognise the arrangements :)

It is an early start, apologies for those travelling some distance ,but as per previous years we will need to be on site for around 9am on the Sunday morning giving us time to get the display area all set up before the gates open to the public at 9.30 . If you are going to be late please let me know asap.

Each ticket will grant free entry to the c5 owner plus 1 , so any other guests will need to pay at the gate. As with previous years, I will issue the tickets at the entrance of the access road known as Campbell Gate (check the link, shown as access point 2) ;

There are plans to hold another "scooterthon" for the youngsters so bring along your micro-scooters . Most important of all is to bring a cycling helmet if you want to venture onto the Mercedes Benz World test track - it an insurance requirement and strictly enforced. No crash hat, no access to the track.

Brooklands Museum is a superb venue with lots to see and do, plus they have planned some good events for this festival so should be an excellent day out for us all - really looking forward to it.

Well done to the C5s brave enough to tackle the hill ... i wimped out :D

Got to see a little of the C5s on the test track, but did get to see some very expensive Mercs, and the AMG Merc Silver Arrows display team scaring some lucky passengers :)

Riley now wants his own C5 when his legs can reach the peddles :D

Post by: Karl on 18, September, 2011 - 22:35:36: A massive thank-you to all the Brooklands staff for taking such good care of us (yet again ;D) at what is now our fourth visit to their cycle event :)

It was a really good,fun day out and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a large collection of c5's on display (around 18 ?) and had a lot of fun on the track.

As always I was too busy enjoying myself to take many piccies - I'll sift through what I've got and post a few tomorrow.

All the lifting and shifting loading the trailer etc has left me proper worn out :D

Thanks to all those that came along and supported us today - it means a lot to Brooklands to see us all make the effort, but it also means a lot to me to see c5alive being so well supported as well. Cheers guys !

Thanks to those who stopped what they were doing to do a formula one engine change so my C5 was operational before we left at the end of the day.
I will make sure it is clean and tidy for the next time.

A big thank you to all those that came along to display their c5's ,I know some travelled quite a distance which in this day and age is quite expensive so I do appreciate all your efforts. Also, because we are able to put on such a nice display it helps to ensure we get included in next years plans so taking part really does help. Sorry I didn't get to chat with everyone for as long as I would have liked but there was just so much going on. There were some new faces from here meeting up with some of the regulars for the first time but we were soon all chatting away as if we'd known each other for ages, and it was nice to see friends and families coming along to enjoy the day as well. All goes to show how successful the day was 8)

Just as well radiomarty was fearless enough to take a fast run at it from the start line :D
