Title: my latest 3-wheeler !
Post by: Karl on 20, September, 2011 - 19:14:06
I've had my eye open for one of these for ages;

..now that I've taken it out the box and assembled it, the temptation to try it out was too strong  ;D ;

I enlisted my usual test driver - Steve - who took to it like a duck to water.

The easy-glider is really easy to use and a lot of fun...as usual my neighbours all came out to see what I was up to now  :D

Nice!! how much did that set you back karl? i've wanted one ever since i saw them first on the gadget show but sadly at the time (and probably still now) they were out of my price range.

Is it actual legal on the road or pavement ?
Looks very cool though  :)

This easy-glider is really easy to ride, very intuitive and great fun. As you can see from the piccies, Steve was already confident enough to go for the "speed crouch" after only a couple of minutes on the thing  ;D It has 3 different power settings to help you gain your confidence.

As for the cost, it would be rude to say...although I was lucky in that this one was an unwanted prize so I didn't pay the usual full retail price of £795 . Even at full price they are good value compared to all the other electric gadget type vehicles out there.

I intend to bring it along to some of the events for us to have a play on  8)

I like it but I get enough looks from people on my c5 let alone on one of those especially if you were behind a wall and they see just your top half vooming along ha ha.

There are several monowheel electric devices that could be described as the poor mand Segway and of course they are not emcumbered with a trailer. Being far more manoueverable than the easy-rider, Segways are used within airport terminals for example.

..as much as I'd love to own a Segway, the sheer price and complexity of the thing really puts me off....they literally cost thousands to buy and maintain  :o

The beauty of owning the c5 , and to a similar extent the easyglider, is the very modest purchase price and low running costs. Pound per smile, they are unbeatable  ;)

Is the easy-rider road legal in the UK?

I love these! How did you get it so cheap?

The whole hub motor idea gives a lot of freedom of design - Imagine a C5 style kart with a hub on each rear wheel - you could prob even steer by giving each side different amounts of power.

I bet it would be possible for a manufacturer to pump these out for less than £100 (perhaps excludind the batteries). They're so simple but fun - I recon they'd sell loads.

I wonder how strong the patents are...  :-\

Hey Lance

Here for 8 months on a fixed term contract working for that cool Outdoors and Alpine sports brand "Mountain Equipment" check them out.

Living up in Broadbottom above Hyde Almost in the Derbyshire hills.

So I've left my C5 in Rotherhithe for the winter but plan to get down for some weekends to take it out of course.

Be good to see your collection sometime.

Dear Booboo,

Just Wow. If I look how much attention I get in my C5, it must be staggering to drive one of these.
What is the top speed of this "thingy"?
Maybe you could build a C5 body around it? ??? ;)

This only does about 12mph , but with my lardy body to hail about I think maybe a bit less  ;D

The down side of no pedals (where would you fit them ?) is that when the battery gives out you can't pedal home...and it is a bit heavy to carry or push  !
