Is it possible to switch between 12v and 24v systems
« on: 20, May, 2012 - 20:29:29 »
Has anyone ever had a setup so the C5 can be ran as original 12v system with the option to swich to a 24v system?
I was thinking that it would be good to operate as normal with the micro switch with the option to switch to 24v with a speed controller.

Yes it is - The adam Harper conversion does exactly that - although never having seen one in the flesh im not sure how he does it - I am assuming a simple switching circuit using some relays would work well - although he disabled the Pod on 24v

Sounds a bit beyond me! Is there such thing as a Adam Harper conversion guide? I wouldn't be able to figure it out myself.

Sadly they a few and far between - most of us on here have not had a good look at one - I do have plans in the future to make up a harness for this so watch this space - Marty

Hi the Twin motor C5 I built not long ago would be able to do what you are asking The First motor runs on 12v through the pod and the Second one just runs on 12v through a relay system ..But I could be changed to 24v with a twist grip and a uni 8

There was a Adam Harper converted c5 for sale not long ago. Speaking to the guy that sold it on ebay but registered a thread here on the forum.

He advised that the 12v worked as normal but relays kicked in and sent 24v to the motor on the push of a second switch (instead of the horn switch). It also turned off the POD so no display or status.

It acted as a turbo boost than a controlled / ramped speed.

They both sound pretty cool. Got any pictures/plans of the twin motor chas?

Think I'm going to have a go at doing some sort of conversion.
