Found a great event for anyone who fancies a really great day out 8) Needless to say, we're going!
Beaulieu Simply Classics show is open to anyone with a pre-1988 vehicle. I've called them, C5's are welcome to it with a couple of little stipulations that I'm going to run through now...
The Rules
1 - Modern cars aren't allowed on site. All vehicles must be ride in/drive in... what this means is that if (like us) you're trailering a C5 there, you need to park in the car park and then... well... ride in ::)
2 - Entrance fee £10. Most shows are free entry for exhibitors, here you need to pay £10. It can either be by phone... 01590 612345... online at http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieu-events/club-rally/simply-classics (http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieu-events/club-rally/simply-classics) or pay on the day with a £1 surcharge. I will say that if you HAVEN'T been to Beaulieu, this is actually a really good offer because it's in effect half price admission to the whole complex!
3 - Arrive between 9.30am and 10am. Their restaurant is open early to serve tea and bacon sandwiches!
A couple of other things...
Club stands are welcome, not sure if Karl's up for doing a C5alive stand, but this is a BIG event.
There's no designated areas. It's simply first come first served on where your place will be. This is important because if anyone else DOES want to come and join us, if we want to keep the C5's together it means meeting up in the car park and entering the gates at the same time!
Now... lastly, if you haven't been to Beaulieu, believe me when I say 2013's the year to go! They have an absolutely incredible Bond exhibition on with all of the Bond cars you can imagine. The original DB5's from Thunderball and Goldeneye, DBS's from all the Daniel Craig films, as well as the roofless Renault 11, 2CV, underwater Lotus, BMW's, you really can't believe it... they even have Goldfinger's Rolls! It's a unique exhibition that WILL end at the end of 2013 never to be seen together again!
Top Gear exhibition with loads of things they've built on the program including the stretch limo Panda and MGF and boat Herald...
TV cars including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mr Beans mini (original!!!), Del Boy's Reliant (original!), and the Harry Potter Anglia.
Throw that in with the car museum, abbey, palace house AND the classics show and for £10 it'll be an amazing day out ;)
Like I said, we're definately going to this one... 25th August... let me know if you want to do it any time before then and we'll arrange a car park meet up to get a C5 display going ;D

Sounds cool
-
I have put this in the diary and hope to bring at least 1 C5 or Maybe two .......
Would be great to have a C5 ALive display there ..

Why is everything so far away? :( I would have liked to go to Beaulieu at some point, possibly even in the Jag this year, but it would be a 400 mile (8 hour) round trip. :o

Nearer the time we'll try and arrange a meeting place before the show as it would be good to try and keep the C5's together. I've just been reading that club stands are welcome, but need to be prebooked unlike individual participants by calling the number above. We'll definately bring our two, maybe three by then, so it could end up being quite a nice club turnout if Karl's free ???
Incidentally, quick update for the ticket prices... Adult entry £10, child entry £5 for exhibitors and family. We went there yesterday for a day out and it cost us double that so it really is a substantial saving for people who haven't been to Beaulieu or resent the usual prices.
There's also something that made me smile too... a concours event that show participants are welcome to enter... oh it is SO tempting to stick a C5 into that to see what the judges make of it ::) Let's face it, to get top marks it would have to have original wiring, original key, original tyres... very few can claim that! One of mine has Sinclair tyres, but converted for car batteries. There's also a trophy for the vehicle the public would most like to take home too, and THAT'S the award I'm aiming for 8)

This does sound like a terrific event...and yes , I'm free ! (sounds like a certain 1970's sit-com character :-X)
I've added this to the events calendar etc.
-
Fantastic news :-) The number in the original message is the one to contact, it's the Beaulieu events team. I have no clue what's involved in registering a club to attend but I think we could have a good turnout! Plus it's something for all the family there too, so no 'bored wife' excuses lol!
-
I've emailed the events team at Bealieu and await their reply regarding allocating us a club stand, fingers crossed ;)
-
Let us know what they say, we'll definitely bring our pair down to it! In terms of publicity it's a fantastic show due to the sheer quantity of public that attend, but it's a great day out too!
-
Looks like we're on for this event , judging by the reply I've received from the Beaulieu events team ;
We would love to designate you a club area for the event (consider it done),
More details to follow nearer the time.
-
That's excellent, now we just need to see how many we can get down there!
-
I would love to go but it's just too far and I can't get my C5 in the car!
-
I am up for this, will try and get two there ...... 8)
-
Great start :)
-
Any more news on this ? :)

Any more news on this ? :)
I still intend t go along and put up a c5alive display.
No further news from the guys running the event as yet, but not worried about that as the event is still a while away.
I'll start chasing it up at the end of this month.
-
Just to bump this up a bit, remember this is on in a few weeks time! We're bringing 2, who else is in?
-
I still plan to go to this and set up a similar display to the one we set up for Ardingly
-
I've today emailed the event organiser (Tom) to confirm that I would like to reserve a club display are for at least six Sinclair C5's .
If you want to include your own c5 in this display let me know here asap so I can update Tom with the expected numbers.
Unusually for a c5alive display , there are no free tickets so you will need to buy your own either in advance or on the day.
-
Numbers are a bit tricky, there's interest on Facebook of course but put me down for two definate :)
-
Won't be able to make this I'm afraid - will be on holiday. :(
-
Put me down for this, hope to be bringing two C5s but at least one if things don't go to plan.

-
That's great John! Right, well there's a guy on the Facebook page saying he's definately bringing 2+ so so far it looks to be a minimum of 6 plus Karl's :-)
-
Remember this is on next weekend! :-)
-
Got my tickets, :) just sorting out the two i am bringing so they are all ready to go ! 8)
Are we all meeting somewhere prior to going in to the event ?
John

Not been there in a while myself, open to suggestions ?
There should be a space reserved for us so I'm thinking first of us that gets there should "bagsy" the space asap to make sure it isn't gobbled up by other clubs :)
-
That's a good plan, there's a huge car park right by the entrance, be warned, it's gravel so may not be the most comfortable ride, but I like the sound of a 'bagsy'. Is it worth exchanging phone numbers between those who are coming to keep each other updated about whereabouts etc? I've just got a horrible feeling we could end up with two locations lol!
-
I might be able to come for a visit. I'm on holiday down that way so I can't make any promises
-
I haven't been to Beaulieu for 25 years, I would like to pay it a visit again sometime. Look forward to seeing the pictures of the day and see what displays I remember :)

I've just read something on the Beaulieu site that's quite interesting, let me copy/paste...
Vehicle Entry
Entry into the Beaulieu Parkland with your classic vehicle is from 9.30am – the Brabazon Restaurant will be open for bacon rolls, cakes, teas and coffee.
Please note that if you wish to park alongside your friends, or fellow club members, you must arrive together as there will be no designated areas available.
--------------
This would suggest that the only way of getting the C5's together will be by doing a car park meet up first, if entry is from half 9 should we plan a half 9 meet?
-
0930 is good for me .....
John
-
Have you received my email John? Sent it yesterday :-)
-
Yep replied this morning .....
John
-
We should have a space reserved for us, this is the email I have from Beaulieu ;
Hi Karl,
Thank you for your email and I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Tom has left the company so I am taking the lead on the Simply Classics event and I'm getting up to speed with everything. It's no problem for a club area, I will reserve an area big enough for 6 C5's and your 2 gazebo's.
If you need anything else from now until the event please do let me know.
Many thanks,
Caroline
Assistant Events Manager
It looks like we may have a few more than six C5's there but at least we will have a space set aside for us by Caroline ,one of the events organisers. First on scene will need to mention this to the guys sorting out the parking etc.
-
Excellent news, I think everyone attending has my number now so if whoever gets there first can let me know I'll pass word along.
-
What a day! I'm sure there will be better photos than the ones that I took but here's some of them...
A huge thanks to Karl, John, Edward, Neil and everyone else who made it a fantastic day! I'm sure that we were actually one of their star attractions this year, especially as we were given our own cavalcade :o
Hope to be able to make this an annual C5alive event!
The C5alive stand...

Lots of C5s... 18 in total. Okay, let's be pedantic... 17 and a half (pint)...

Our 'top spec' version meets Half Pint. These two formed the front of the display and garnered a great deal of interest!

Ten of us took part in the C5 Cavalcade... or as the announcer put it, "The C5's are unleashed!"

Another view of the cavalcade lineup... I was number 10 so I could take a couple of 'in ride' shots...

On your marks....

GO!!!

My favourite C5 of the day... what a stunning vehicle :) Huge thanks to John for bringing it!
