help please + some parts for sale
« on: 06, September, 2010 - 17:39:56 »
I have now completed my project and the C5 is up and running.

My early test runs have drawn lots of attention from passing motorists including unwanted attention from Gobby chavs in white vans!!

Not convinced that it was running 100% i stripped the motor and gearbox yesterday but havent retestested yet (I was amazed how quiet the motor is before the gearbox and drive belt are attached to it)

one problem i have encountered is the single tone that comes from the display pod.

I have replaced the original ignition system by adding quick release cables to the battery and then added a on/off switch in place of the handlebar motor engaging button. After a short burst i switch the motor off and the tone will sound. The switch will then no longer work unless i quickly remove and re-attach the battery terminal. Is this normal?? Any suggestions on how best to resolve this issue?

Also, I bought 2 tatty C5's in order to make one good one. Using one of them as a model and also for spare parts. As a result i have about 75% of a C5 left over in spare parts of varying conditions. My plan is to put these on ebay in the near future but may be willing to sell bits to you helpful bunch for fair prices beforehand. If anybody needs specific bits then let me know and i will try and get back to you in reasonable time. There are none of the optional extras available.
Thanks
Nick

The tone can mean several things..is the motor getting hot ? Also, how healthy is your battery ?

I have a front and rear light but both have corners chipped off. i have just noticed a very good rear light on ebay for £30 which may be of interest to you.

Dont think the motor is getting hot but will check. The battery is A1 brand new but the pod will go from showing green to to red for the battery quite quickly even when its fully charged and still holding lots of charge.
thanks
