G'day all,
My pedal dust caps and axle needed repainting, so I deciced to dissassemble them completely rather than paint them in situ, which would also enable me to re-grease the bearings. Heres a few pics to help you, should you decide to do the same.
First off I removed the dust cap.
Its a bit tight so I used a flat blade screwdriver to get it off, hitting it with a mallet to open up a gap before levering it off.
Then off comes the lock nut and washer.
Next the bearing cone, bearings, and bearing cup.
There should be 11 ball bearings per side, unless your floor has claimed one, like me.
Now working on the other side of the pedal, withdraw the axle, 11 ball bearings, and bearing cup.
Inside the pedal there is a steel sleeve to help keep things centred, it just slides out.
Here is the the overall picture.
Hope this is helpful to you all.
