I did the same thing yesterday, :)

Although you lose the various original Sinclair safety features , you do end up with an easy to use and reliable c5. The downside is no thermal protection for the motor so, it will run until destruction...which I actually quite like  ;D , plus you run the risk of over discharging the battery - which is why I'll be fitting a battery monitor.

On the plus side, no more worrying about pods and control box failures - and you can push it backwards without fear of popping a fuse  ;)

Likely need to rewire mine from scratch... Have a control box but no pod so likely I will have to do the relay option.
But does anyone have a link to what relay, micro switch, fuse, etc i need to buy?
Also a schematic of the alternative wiring please?
Additionally does a leisure battery work better than a car battery?
Cheerz

I can't help with the electrics, but I've got a 100ah van battery that's seriously heavy but gives a range of about 40 miles, and an old pair of 36ah mobility scooter batteries that do about twenty each.

Dean just buy the safety wiring kit from chas and connect direct to the motor like I ve done it works great

Are you running it without a control box?
As I've never seen an assembled or working C5 I don't even know what's used as an accelerator

Hi there the two switches under the handle bar rubber are for Left side for the motor on/off .The right side for the horn .That is if they have not been changed from the original set up ..
