Title: how do i charge a sinclair battery with no sinclair charger
Post by: dlittlewood on 26, April, 2009 - 23:40:49
Hi,  I have a C5 with an original battery but I have lost the Sinclair charger.  How would I charge the battery?  Can I use a normal car battery charger?

Thanks, Damion.

I charge my Sinclair batteries by removing the grey battery top and using an Optimate "intelligent charger" - seems okay so far  :)

Thanks, is this the one?

Also how long do you charge it for or does the charger indicate when ready?

Thats the newer ,posher version - mine's a bit older than that  :D

Charge time will vary according to the state of the battery, you just leave it to "do it's thing" ;)

Hi, my charger turned up and I plugged it onto the battery.  I turned it on and the green light came on, I left it for 3 days charging and still only the green light was lit.  I decided to check it on the C5 so I plugged it all in and nothing happened.

Is this my battery dead then do you think?  Can I easily get it re-filled?

Thanks.

There should be some instructions with the charger that tells you what the sequence of lights on the charger equate to.

If the battery is completely dead or weak, the charger should say so.

I left the batteries from my mini-el on charge for a whole week before they came back to life, so you might want to leave them a little while longer.

Out of interest, how old is the battery ?
