Best to use a 'puller' if you can get hold of one.

like Umpa says - use a proper puller.

The axle is hollow so could get damaged if you start using big hammers

All mine get done by a mate who works in a local garage using a proper machine - saves a lot of hassle. There must be a garage local to you that could help ?

Sorry Marty, a definate case of "night duty-itis" - (joys of being woken up by the noise of a chainsaw)  :o I must remember to keep away from the keyboard until I'm properly awake  ;D

...in my defence I had just been reading a posting by umpa  ;)

Plummer - this is a piccie of the axle assembly;

Am I right in thinking you want to change the bearing shown ?

If so, it just slides off when using a proper bearing press - the last one I had done by my mate was two years ago so I'm happy to be corrected. I don't have any memories of it causing us any grief , seemed quite straight forward ;) . We didn't encounter any snags such as having to remove those components on the end.
