How to lock a C5 effectively?

Hi,

I am planning to go to work downtown with my C5. Suddenly I noticed that I have a severe problem: I do not have the slightest idea how to lock the vehicle.

I guess some will answer that never leave your precious unattended 

But as I am really going to use my C5 I really could use the advice. What do you recommend? A plastic covered chain around the chassis + good bicycle lock?

I think the favourte method of locking a C5 is to use a motorcycle spec  armoured cable and D-lock , usually wrapped around the axle & chassis.

Not perfect but a useful deterrent.

Still leaves your battery vulnerable though

Okay, apologies for the snake pic - but I was trying to convey the message that there is effectively no way of preventing a determined thief from stealing your C5.

Yes, use a mega-duper titanium-tipped Kryptonite chain lock if you like, but at the end of the day it's attached to the wheel, so when the wheel comes off (only 2 nuts!) the C5 can simply be driven off, pedalled off or even just carried off!

Now, a nice big King Cobra would stop that bad guy in his tracks!

Well - no one is that stupid on this forum ;-)

Of course you have to wrap a chain around the chassis or attach it to the frame. My C5 does have wheel covers so "locking" the wheel is not possible.

Maybe my own judgement is just as good

What about a chain around the axle from underneath and possibly fit a motorcycle alarm as well

lock through the front wheel i live in cambridge witch is the bike crime capital of the uk if someone wants it they will have it it will only be scallys that will want it as the scrap value is like nill and as they are so rare thiefs will steer clear as they are to noticeable

Kurt (aka padawan)  has a C5 with a motorcycle spec security cable wrapped aroung the "Y" section of the chassis. It then pokes out of the hole in the body where the battery cables pass through.

Very effective.

Yup, mine has the cable as Karl says which is really handy when I pop to Waitrose with it as I can leave it outside and grab a couple of bags of shopping.

Down side is the Battery is still vulnerable, though I have a thin flexi steel cable combi lock that i wind around the battery and through the handles to the chasis, but this would only deter an oportunist and not someone determined to pinch the battery.

Do like the idea of the King Cobra though
