You may recall seeing this micro-caravan ,pictured at Ardingly Historic Vehicle Rally earlier this year ;

now take a look at what is on top of the micro-caravan;

As you've probably guessed, seeing my C5 and Mini-el at the show inspired "Spike" to build his own C5 - with a difference.........

Spike today got back in touch to say he has nearly finished his C5 project and sent some pictures for me to publish on our site ;

It's a shame Spike "doesn't do" computers because I'm sure there are loads of questions you'd like to ask about this amazing vehicle  8)

It has been designed to run on either pedal power, electric motor or petrol "go-ped" engine . A true hybrid - if he brings it to Brooklands next year I'd place money on him getting to the top of that hill climb  ;D

A fantastic machine that is a credit to Spike.
...and yes, I would love to own it myself  :D

Spikes joined the forum  ;D

Hopefully he can be tempted to bring his beastie along to one of the meetings  8)

That is a fantastic piece of kit! I need one!

Look's great Spike - hope to see it in the 'flesh' soon.

Karl

Spike sold it on to me, and it is being worked on at the moment so that it will be able to get up the Brooklands Test Hill.

It will be making its official Test Hill attempt at the Brooklands Vintage Cycle event in September.

Hopefully there will be quite a few of us there to cheer it on  ;D

Cant wait to see this one.
I have been looking for something similar for ages,lucky man.

Hello BooBoo,

this is a really great modification!
One little question: are both rear wheels connected with the axle or is one wheel freewheeling just as like with the original C5?

Greetings,
Phil

..it is now somewhat different to how it looks in these original photo's.

There are some "taster" pictures on the other thread;

The go-ped engine has been removed, and so have the pedals to make room for the power pack - that and the fact it is now reaching about 45mph rendering the pedals pointless.

It has a much larger electric motor fitted and is presently back in bits while we experiment with a chain drive set-up.

Obviously it is not road legal, but then it is being specifically adapted for the Test Hill challenge.

..I think the go-ped engine is probably still lurking in electricdave's shed somewhere. I'll see if we can find it next time I visit   :) We never heard it run and don't know if it is electric start or not.
