Spammers are on the attack !

Not sure if anyone else on the c5alive forum runs a website of their own, but it seems the number of spammers trying to register for an account seems to be increasing. I'm deleting at least half a dozen a day now 

Hopefully no-one from this site is receiving rubbish via their c5alive profile, I try my best to keep it as secure as I can. Playing with this sites security settings sometimes restricts the personal message and email facilities, so let me know if it's causing you any snags.

In the meantime, if anyone has been deleted in error (like FrankEv was) just drop me an email and I'll get it sorted asap.

Not sure if anyone else has received a dodgy email, but I've just had a message supposedly via c5alive that is just gobbledegook and links - which I haven't clicked on !

It could be that a spammer has got on the forum,so I'll be "pushing the button" and deleting all the non-active members.

Apologies in advance if anyone gets toasted by mistake !

At this moment it seems working again Karl, but I still have profile restrictions, ill dive in to it tomorrow.

I had some a while back - not many and they were addressed to me @c5alive.  Its was not a problem though and I seem to think they went in the junk folder anyhow..

It stays restricted for me to see anything except my own profile.
Maybe it is normal but it wasn't before. 

But on the other hand, I can live with it. 
I can reply and I can post again.

Well I tried it with A Pc, I tried it with my different Mac's, its the same all over.
I even tried it on my phone, it has a different IP address. Its everywhere.

Hi Frank - the loss of viewing rights to other profiles was chosen to stop spammers reading email addresses.

I've changed it back for now, if we get any more dodgy emails I'll alter it again.

..the spammers are evolving again 

Most of them use a ".pl " email address, now I see they've moved on and have now started to use a ".fr " batch of addresses.

Just for info , I'll be running another audit of the members database again soon.

As a precaution I will be deleting all those forum profiles that have been registered and never used.
