Right, what's the best way to secure the wing mirrors... securely?

I screwed them up as tight as I dared, came down this this morning and one had fallen off. Tighten more and risk stripping the threads? It's not a problem while it's inside, but obviously I want them securely on to save seeing one bouncing down the road and under a passing car tyre!

Hi post a picture of how you have secured it to the body but I have used an extra screw from inside the C5 through the first inner black bracket, C5 body, outer black bracket and into the mirror casing. Not moved since I have done it.

I'd thought of doing somthing similar to that myself as I have had one mirror fall off when driving the C5 :(. No damage done fortunately.

Has anyone bought the aluminium version of the brakets that have been made up recently and do they work better than the plastic originals?

I have got the metal ones but we had to do a hell of a lot of work to get them to fit, but once they have been fitted they hold very well :) ;)

They're quite expensive those ones.  I think Chas made some plastic replacements recently, they may be better than the originals.  Maybe check with him as well.
