Now putting my freshly painted chassis together.

I have fitted front forks and bearings. Just wondered how tight the nuts need to be against the bearings?

Thanks.

Bit of a 'have to have done it a few times thing really' you want it so there is no play in the folks if you try to move them forward and back but not so tight that you can feel the bearing 'grinding' when you turn it side to side - I would imaging there is a correct torque setting somewhere but think you will get it right through playing a bit - Marty

Yes I did tightening (hand tight) and felt it grinding and notchy, so backed off a little and it felt fine.

Will recheck in the mor ing and then fit the locking nuts.

Thanks.

Hi there I do the same hand tight the round nut down untill it is very tight then take it back 1/2 a turn and check it for grinding if not then fit the notched washer in place .After doing that screw down the locking nut down to a Torque of 40-45 Nm as the original construction plans say's  (It's the same Torque for the Handle bar bearings as well)
