Will an indicator crack?

On the front indicator lens there's what looks like a small screwdriver hole in between the lens and the backing. Has anybody separated the two halves or have they been sealed meaning that little hole is just misleading?

Michael

Possible drain hole?
I not seen one to say for sure though.

Possible, but I can't see a need for a drain hole if it's a sealed unit... Plus it's rectangular which is what maker it look like a screwdriver hole. I need to seperate the two parts to be able to mould them, but I don't want to risk cracking it if it is sealed :-/

Hi Danny,

I don't see how you figure out that it's a sealed unit, there can be an ingress of moisture at the point were the bulb fits. When you switch the lights on the air inside the housing will warm up and expand forcing air out, when the light is off the air will cool down and retract thereby sucking in air from the outside.

True, but still doesn't tell me if I can pop the back off or not ;-)

I'll see if I can help, I'm in the garage tomorrow and will have a quick shufti at the one that's been removed.

That would be great! The shapes are actually very simple, and I've found a suitable orange plastic to mould it from but of course unless I can get them apart I won't be able to do it :-/
