Hello C5 friends.
10 years ago I sold my Red Arrow Sinclair C5.
In the years between i had many vehicles, but only 2 of them where electric: A Spijkstaal-truck and a electric Solex (e-Solex).
A few days ago I found my old C5 back, it was standing in a garden of a woman that lives 100 meters from my home!!! I fell in love with the machine again, so I offered the woman €70,- and she was allright with that price! :0)
Today I connected a batterie and it was riding again! Even the front and back lights are working.
After 50 meters the right wheel cover jumped off, and when I squeeze the rear brake, the machine stops very quick. Too quick, i think... The right wheel blocks complete if I hit the brake...
The pod is not working and after a few minutes the C5 makes a beeping sound and stops, till I dis-connect the batterie for a few seconds. Ten years ago the machine had that same problem...
However I liked the little test-ride very much.
The coming week I am planning to work on the C5 brake and other things. Put some oil in the brake-cables and de-rust some parts. In generally the machine still looks quite ok, I think.
When I bought the machine 11 years ago, the guy told me that the machine was used by the Red Arrow stunt team (Jet aircrafts) to drive to their planes... Can that be true, or is it just a story? I can't find anything on the internet about it. Maybe somebody here knows...
Greetings from Bart van Etten, Arnhem, Holland.
(I hope I can find out how I can post a picture of my c5...)

I think posting the pictures was not succesfull...
I did put the dropbox-link between the IMG-things, but I can't see the pictures on my iPad...
I do have some pictures of my C5 on my website, but I don't know if it's allowed to put the link to my (not-commercial) website in here...

No I can't see the pictures  ::)

You were very lucky to get your c5 back after 10 years.

How did you find out it was there  :o :o

Its ok to to have links to other / personnal web sites as others have done the same to document and show other interest (as long as there is no harmful content as kids as use this forum).

Thanks for the replies.
I found my C5 while I was visiting another back-garden. Doing that, I saw the C5 standing there. It was covered in mud.
The adress of my webside is:
www.hottentottententententoonstelling.nl
On that site click:"Druk hier" (at the Welcome page) then click "Foto's" then click "Diversen" and scroll to the pictures of my C5. The pictures are how I found my C5, covered in mud, the rear box was half-loose and the tyres were flat.
There are also other pictures of nice vehicles there, like my Spijkstaal and Sulky.
If you "translate" the site, the text will jump out of the boxes somewhere, the English text is a bit longer than the Dutch text...

Welcome to c5alive mate , if you take a look through the forum guide..
http://c5alive.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,627.0.html
...you will see advice on how to place pictures on here.  To save forum space we tend to use a hosting service such as photobucket, the advice is copied below;

Using photobucket

1) log into your own photobucket account and upload your photo's

2) place your cursor onto the picture you wish to post within the topic on this forum, you will see four options appear

3)  right click & copy the fourth/bottom option (IMG code)

4) paste the link into the posting

Your picture should now feature in the forum posting.

Remember, if you move or delete the picture within your photobucket account then it will automatically be deleted from this forum.

..hope this helps. Any snags let me know  ;)

Just had my first testride that was more than 5 kilometers... (I don't trust the old original tires (Sinclair made in Thailand))
It drove VERY nice...
Everything went great!
Now I really want to convert to 24 Volt (my house is on a hill) and fix the pod. After that its time to re-paint it, I think.
What do you people think: Keep the paint like it is (Red Arrow version, with long stickers on it) or repaint it (than it loose the Red Arrow stickers).
:o

I am never too keen on painted c5's but this one looks pretty damn good I think.
