Although we weren't involved in the power tool challenge, we have helped out the Gadget Show on a couple of projects;

The c5 used for filming inside the studio is the one now owned by Henrik  8) I still have the one Jason Bradbury rode about on outside.

Hi All

The C5 on the Gadget show was mine. I took part in the outdoor Powertool Drag Race, all the machines have to be powered by a 'hand power tool' of some sort. Mine had 2x 4.5HP Partner Cut Off Saws (sthil saws) strapped to the back, top speed ~35mph. Hopefully i'll enter again this year, and i'll add 2 more engines to it. The drive system is a seperate module that just bolts onto the C5 chassis via the standard rear axle bolt holes. The rear brake lever was used for the throttle. So i can unbolt the module and return the C5 to standard spec.

Top effort mate  -  really loved that Power tool race, pity they didn't give your superb creation abit more airtime. Are you bringing it along to the AER in May ? If it's petrol powered then it probably won't qualify but would still be a star attraction in the pit area   ;D

robotslive

Cheers, cant get to the AER, ive got a show that week, shame as its about the closest to me, if you have anymore meets nearby (east midlands) let me know. Although i don't know if the AER would welcome it all that much, it must be about the least fuel efficiant C5 out there, does about 2.8MPG :P Its also a pig to drive as it has a live back axle so it doesn't want to turn, so you have to try and spin the back wheels to break traction! Did have some testing videos, i'll see if i can dig them out.

Hi all, not been on here for a while. Just to let you know that i'll be entering this years Powertool Drag Racing again with my C5, this year it will have 4 engines instead of the 2 from last year, and the speed up from 33mph to 50mph. I understand the Gadget Show are entering again this year, along with the Chevvy BTCC Team with Jason Plato and team mate Alex MacDowall driving. Dont think i've got alot of chance, but abit off fun. Now to try and squeeze these other 2 engines in.... :o I'll put some pics up of the build (not started yet though!)

Karl

Thats sounds really good . Where/when is it being held ?

Retro Andy

Look forward to seeing it on the show, good luck.

Retro Andy.

Got the extra engines mounted, just need to sort out a fuel tank and wire it all up.
