Hi there

I've just bought a C5 in very nice condition but the key has become stuck in the key switch. Can anyone give me any tips on how to release it or strip it down to get it to come out? It still works everthing but will not come out of the switch.

I also noticed on the forum (can't remember where) that someone has their C5 on the wall on brackets... Can anyone point me in the right direction or let me know where they came from or how to make some myself as it would save a lot of space in my garage. I'm pretty handy with a welder etc so if anyone knows the dimentions that would be great :)

Thanks
Dave

Sorry to hear that Dave.

I assume you've tried the usual WD40 etc in there? could be god knows what in the switch itself (bits of grit, etc). Hopefully somebody with keyswitched c5s will let you know what you need to do.

Dangerous thing saying you are handy with a welder... You'll be bombarded with requests for sets of C5 shelves! :)

Welcome aboard!

Hi there

Thanks for the speedy replies and for the link to the brackets post... Doesn't look like I'll need the welder after all Mike lol...

Hi, I had the same keyswitch problem recently. Its fairly easy to strip it down, clean and then lubricate it with graphite, NOT WD40. Do it slowly as thre are several parts so you need to see how it is to be re-assembled, especially the spring.

Phew!!

Just got in from work and had a look at the key switch and given it a gentle waggle about and managed to get the key out.

I think I'll take your advice and strip and lubricate it when I have time at the weekend.

Can't wait for the first run in it.

Thanks again for the help I'm sure I'll be asking more questions as time goes on.
