Should there be another part to the lock? Also, how long ish is the front break cable?

There should be a "U" shaped clip that holds the lock to the boot , and the barrel should have a sort of "tail" on the end that moves when you turn the key.

The front brake cable outers are just over 1m long, with the inner cable needing to be longer still. You will also need all the ferrules if the originals are missing.

Another thing. Are the fuses just bits of glass :o or are they real fuses?
Thanks

;D...they are proper fuses, just a weird size.

Your best bet for a boot lock assembly would be Adam Harper, unless your local friendly locksmith can sort yours for you. The pins in the barrel can be adapted to fit your key, but you are still missing a few essential parts.

After seeing the Pictures on the other post, I have decided that the C5 DOES NOT suit red! It has gone brown! So, shall I cover it in a coat of Grey Primer or a coat of Hammerite? Also, about the legalities of a C5. Can I drive on the footpath? I live on a VERY busy road and the thought of cars zooming past at 50 is a bit worrying... :o
The traffic warden doesn't seem to mind, he said hi when I was out for a  spin. (Before it was take apart!)

Umpa

hi mark,

When the body is on you can't see the frame anyway so I guess it's just a matter of using the best paint for the job. I'm painting mine the original colour when I get round to it but that's only coz I want it original.

As for the traffic, I can't say other than all the cars I have met have been very good. Legally you can't use the c5 on the pavement unless it's a cycle patch too.

minimin

Thanks. I'm going to paint it in Hammerite, but if anyone has any better sugestions let me know before 4:30 tomorrow. Next on the agenda...

What is this. It is on the plastic, where the Control Box looks to be.

A shot from the back, no boot.
So, what could it be???
Thanks
Mark

Retro Andy

Cant see the picture, try using photo bucket when posting pictures.

Sorry. Here it goes again.... ;)

The thing.

Where it is in relation to the body (looking in, without a boot)
So what is it? Any guesses?
Mark

Umpa

Whatever that is it's not part of an original c5. My best guess it's a 3rd party controller. From what I have read they are fitted for 24 volt use. If that's what it is I would check the gearbox on the Motor is ok, as they tend to break on 24v.

Retro Andy

Not ever seen one of them before, perhaps its the turbo electric control box  ;D

Retro Andy.

Karl

I think Umpa is on the right lines, that looks like the remains of a non-standard controller. It's not exactly the same as those we used to supply in the 24v kits, but very simlar.

minimin

Oh. He said it was bought from you. So I'm not sure if it would work. Well, as for all my C5 wiring, it has been cut.
