My mini-el attracted quite a bit of attention at "Brooklands Alive" , the most common question was : How much to buy one ?

Checked a few places today and was quite shocked ;

One used 2007 Cityel on the Battery Vehicle Website is up for 68,000 DKK ( £7,763 )
http://www.batteryvehiclesociety.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2045

The advert is copied below;
it's a year 2007 model

HF-lader (year 2008 one)
Duplexchain
EcoControlUnit
48 Volt-system 80 AH
63 km/h-version
Batteryheat plate (warms the battery during charge)
Painted wheel covers
Floor mat with logo

Everything is checked at the factory

some youngsters smashed it but the insurance paid for a new top and buttom part along with almost everything else, from new it's worth 86.913 DKK

but i will sell it at 68000 DKK

Another one on Ebay.de at "buy it now" for 2800 euro ( £2380 )

..seems they are holding their value quite well  :)

Sadly you have to be a member to see the page - but I guess they are worth it, I work 4 miles (ish) from my works so a C5 is ok, if it were 10 miles I would get a Mini-EL.  Seven grand is a lot - tho, I bet its a good one - :)

..the mini-el is a lot of fun, but they cost a lot more to purchase and it is registered as an electric motorcycle with the DVLA. This means MoT,(free) Tax, insurance and driving licence are required. Spare parts are easy enough to obtain, and not too expensive either, so running one is quite cheap in comparison to a small car or moped. With enclosed bodywork you get better protection from the elements, plus with a steering lock and proper ignition key it is a bit more secure when you leave it parked outside the shops.

But the C5 is certainly better for those shorter journeys, plus it has the bonus of being allowed onto cycle paths. A lot cheaper to run as well, with cheap car batteries and no Mot or insurance  costs.
