If used in a sensible way, i am sure all will be fine, but i think flying about at silly speeds would give the game away a bit.    :o

Penaltys would as cover man says be "severe", once you enter the area of Construction and use regs You face at the very least confiscation and some sort of Fine.  :'( :'( :'(

Most Traffic officers are fully up on regs relating to these sort of vehicles, and you don't want to upset them.  :'(

The trick is not to do anything thats going to draw attention to you, and anyway the 24volt C5s would only be us be used at AER and other similar events ....   ;)

Hi Plod, correct me if I am wrong but I thought that being 12 or 24volt was not a problem,as long as the speed is kept below 15 MPH?

Yes you are correct .... 12v - 24 v  Not a problem ..   :)

So yes you are right , but speed must be "LIMITED" to 15mph, IF its capable of more than this then thats where the problem is, also weight limit etc.  :-\

Once  mods are done and equipment changed, you are moving towards the Classification changing from Electrically assisted tricycle to Motor vehicle and the law relating to construction and use regs etc.

But as i said, a bit of common sense and being sensible by not doing anything thats going to attract attention and every one should be ok.    ;)

There wont be any Traffic officers left soon anyway so won't be a problem  ;D ;D ;D

Guys - the legal side of this is covered in this earlier topic (found in the forum guide) ;

..if in doubt, keep the upgraded c5's for using on the track at the AER and other "off-road" events we take part in.

Hi all now all that has been sorted out it`s back to my 24 volt C5

As you can see the motor has been fitted also the belt.

All it needs now is to test it out ...

Is that also a new gear box too? So less chance of searing off the gears?

C5 ENTHUSIAST + RESTORER

Hi no gearbox needed the motor is rated at 1500 rpm ...And the pulley I have fitted will gear it down to about  26/30 mph .But there is still quiet a lot to do  before I can take it out for a test run ...

Hi Chas looking good mate, will be interesting to also see what torque you get in relation to getting up hills, etc.

Interesting motor configuaration. Hope it works as it will solve the motor gearbox issue as the dragon system is still not available.

If I can be of any help don't hesitate to call.

Hi there Lance as you say regarding the torque I have no idea what it is on this motor I have contacted the makers but not received any reply . All I can do is to test it out .If the torque is low I could come down to a smaller  pulley but only by 2 teeth due the size of the motor shaft ..But there are always  other way`s of doing it .....

Karl

That motor is nearly as big as the one in the c-5000  :o

What is it from Chas ?
